Why?
Cause we don't take enough pitches?

by Mariners in 07 on Jul 18, 2007 4:48 PM PDT   0 recs

Yeah
this has hack-away-at-garbage written all over it.

Jeff.
Where did you get that picture?

by Mariners in 07 on Jul 18, 2007 4:56 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Google image search
I do it all the time. It's probably against Internet law but no one's asked me to stop in four years.

by Jeff on Jul 18, 2007 5:01 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Internet Law?
Why should it be against internet law it's not like your selling it are you?

by Mariners in 07 on Jul 18, 2007 5:07 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Techincally he's making money off the site
But I doubt the copyright holder knows about that.

AP photos are public domain
The copyright law is rather dicey but IMO I'd say that as long as he is not directly making money from the photos, i.e. calling them his own and selling them as his own or using them specifically to advertise content, he should be fine to use them on his blog.

by Gomez on Jul 18, 2007 8:05 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

I agree.
I'm debating between going home to watch the game, playing Grand Theft Auto, or skipping all of it and just going to the local watering hole for beers.

Tough call.

I understand completely
between watching the game and going out to play soccer, the hacktacular spectacle that's going to take place at Safeco really didn't stand a chance.

by ningwers on Jul 18, 2007 5:13 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

I may combine it all somehow
Maybe I'll listen to the game on the radio while I play GTA, or I'll go to the bar and play video golf, and watch the game on the big screen or something...

On the subject of Video Games
NCAA Football 2008 is the best game on the 360 and the best NCAA game in about 4 years.

by Robert on Jul 18, 2007 5:36 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

I've never played any of the NCAA games,
A little Madden here and there, but that's the extent of my football video game knowledge.

I'm going to come out and say that as of right now Viva Pinata is the best overall game.

by Robert on Jul 18, 2007 5:46 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

I bought NCAA yesterday,,,
It is amazing. By far the best football game I've ever played. i hope Madden is as improved

Agreed.
My buddy just got it for PS3 and we played a few games on his 47'' LCD last night.  Absolutely silly graphics and gameplay.

My '92 Ford Explorer isn't really good for
real life GTA action. Plus I'm sure the local authorities and my insurance comany would object.

I learned my DUI lesson a long time ago, and my need for speed has faded as I've gotten older.

In other news:
Bartolo Colon is no-hitting the D-Rays through three.

by Mariners in 07 on Jul 18, 2007 4:55 PM PDT   0 recs

Should it even be considered a no-no...
before the 6th inning? I mean at that point at least you've got through the lineup twice and be consider "in control". Once through the order, not so much.

by basebliman on Jul 18, 2007 4:58 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

No hitter through the 3rd?
So what? That happens basically every day. Talk to me when he gets to the 6th or 7th.

Three inning of no hit ball isn't news, even if it probably means the Angels are winning right now.

LA should put some runs into Kazmir they're hit around .300/.440/790 against lefties

Power Rankings
research and proof reading ... must be that old fashioned thing that people don't do anymore...

From the FSN Power rankings:
Detroit #1 - Detroit opens the second half by taking two of three on the road from the tough Mariners. The Red Sox have a (slightly) better record. However, the Tigers have the best run differential in the game, and they've played, to date, the toughest schedule in all of baseball. This is truly a great team. If they add some bullpen help at the deadline, then they're the odds-on favorite to win the World Series.

Seattle #6 - The M's drop two of three at home to the Tigers, but otherwise it's good news. To wit, they've locked up Ichiro long term, Adam Jones appears on the verge of a (belated) call-up, Felix Hernandez has logged three straight quality starts, and they're about to play 14 straight against losing teams.

July 12th - Sea 3 Det 2
July 13th - Det 6 Sea 3
July 14th - Sea 6 Det 4
July 15th - Det 11 Sea 7

Those pesky 4 games series just mess up Dayn Perry.

gotta say, offense+defense, still an improvement.

by Matthew on Jul 18, 2007 6:03 PM PDT   0 recs

7-1
this would be a very nice game to win. And it would be nice to win a no-doubter for a change. Like a 17-3 no doubter.

Jose Guillen
I haven't heard much other than Guillen saying he wants to stay with one team for more than a year.  Even Guillen wanting an extension was a tidbit Baker had to drag out of him since he really didn't bring it up at this point of the season as a distraction.

I'm just going to wait and see what happens.  Probably won't see anything substantial until late in the season.

by ThundaPC on Jul 18, 2007 6:27 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

Tell yeah what Jose.
If you can make Ibanez "disappear" then by all means, I'm all for you staying here for a while. Because I like yeah, and your pretty good at your job(well the hitting part anyways).

But uh, until you can do that, then no way Jose.

These pretzels....are making me thirsty!

by Goose on Jul 18, 2007 6:29 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

I don't know what he's talking about.
"I want to stay in one place and try to build a nice career," Guillen said. "I don't want to be here for one year. I love these people and I love this town. It's a baseball town. I love the enthusiasm of people. And the people have been respecting me here."

by Jeff on Jul 18, 2007 7:02 PM PDT to parent up   0 recs

The minute that guy gets an extension
and doesn't have to play nice to guarantee a job next year, he's going to go bat shit crazy. It happened in LA. It happened in WAS. Learn from the mistakes of others guys, just let the asshole go.

Yankees winning, Red Sox losing
Hmmmm, what to root for more

A: Yankees miss playoffs

or

B: Yankees surpass Red Sox, win division, RS miss playoffs.

A gets us a postseason w/o the Yankees which is badly needed.

B has the virtue of the Red Sox suffering the worst collapse since at least the '95 Angels and to the Yanks no less, meaning the possible end of bandwagon Red Sox Nation.
